Money flowing in!!

I am honestly a bit taken aback at the sudden rush of cash flow and savings that occurred within the past couple of months.

To wit:

  1. Bonus - zomg, it is the biggest I have ever had in my whole (long) working life! 6 figure bonus. Very grateful and happy. 
  2. Salary Increment 10%
  3. Got about a 30k discount on the car I bought
  4. 3k on insurance return - this is a regular thing every few years but I tend to forget about it so it's a nice 'surprise'
  5. 8k on a cancelled MRTA that was sent to me like 8 months ago but I didn't get the mail because it was at the old address
  6. Saved about 5-6k on airfares using up all my points - non-cash for sure but savings is still income by accounting rules. Or as Benjamin Franklin said a penny saved is a penny earned.
  7. Cash back on sale of old car - 24k, gave half to parents for holiday spending.
  8. Latest EPF announcement of 6.4% dividend - by my calculations, that would be around 30k
wow... I attribute all this to following Buddhist teaching of generating good karma by looking after parents, subordinates, working well with peers and bosses (keeping a positive temperament and no bitchy negative gossip), offerings to devas and boddhisatvas and so on..

A new condo launch in Melawati by Sime Darby, I didn't know about it but just so happened to drive by the showroom as it was being constructed; then my mum told me that the launch event was on Saturday the 24th. Didn't have time to go on the 1st day but managed to make it today, the 26th. Picasso Residence, Jalan Jelatek

A new development open for registration just appeared on Jln Jelatek. It looks interesting and the location is good but there are some risky aspects to consider. Details like floor plans and pricing are not available although it is said to be around RM750 psf which is considered "low" in relation to M-Suites which is about 300m away and going for RM1,200+ psf - of course there are other factors in play with regard to M-Suites. Anyway, the pros and cons of Picasso according to currently available information: Pro: Location - just off Jln Ampang, it is close to KLCC (about 3km). It has access to the Ampang Elevated Highway (the entrance to the highway is like only 30m from Picasso) and the DUKE. The Jelatek LRT station is a stones throw away. You can drive straight into the KLCC car park within 8 minutes if there is no traffic (and if you use the Smart Tag! LOL) from this property. Viewing properties: 3 Residen, Melawati

In my seemingly never ending quest to purchase another property, I thought I might as well document my thoughts here on what I've seen so far.. sort of like a reminder / diary for myself. Age IS catching up after all! OK, so went to have a look at the Type A unit in 3 Residen which is 1,389 sq ft with an asking price of RM700,000. I've been to the launch of this development a number of years back and have seen the show unit. Now, finally having a look at the completed one. The positive: The location in Melawati is not bad, in that it is next to the hills so there is some greenery that is unlikely to be torn down The large foyer is a unique feature and does set the unit back away from the common area, so there is some sense of additional private space before you enter the unit proper - although one could also say that it is a waste of space.
